In Sickness and in Health

I waited three decades for this party.

I am still recovering from one of the most exhilarating weekends of my life. I spent Sunday night dancing in the streets of Seattle with my best friends and thousands of complete strangers. On the surface, we were celebrating a Super Bowl victory. We shared hugs, laughter and even some tears. I know, I know: what kind of loser cries over a football game? Well, this loser does. Cue up the bagpipes-  Portland Wrestling is back!

The guy in the scrubs is either a mayor or a state representative. The guy in the glasses is a reporter or a nerd or both.

You will never, ever, ever see me endorse a politician or political party on this blog. As a reporter, it would be unprofessional. As a hardcore cynic that finds idiots on both sides of the aisle, it would be out of character. But today, I will be watching the Democratic National Convention and two brothers that I met years ago in the Alamo City. Continue reading

As Seen on TV

Perhaps this summer’s most talked about TV show centers on the world of broadcast news. My wife (a news anchor) and I always get excited about any show or movie about “the biz”. But if you really want to learn about television news, it’s important that you not believe everything you see on TV (or read in a blog).
