p1000Somewhere in my mother’s attic lies a dog-eared tribute to pop culture royalty. It’s a photograph of a seven-year-old boy who looks a lot like the author of this blog. He wears a goofy grin, long curly hair (much of which has now disappeared), and a sleeveless T-shirt with menacing cat eyes on the front. (Editor’s Note: If you despise TV personalities blathering about important issues they barely understand, please do not read this posting. Rest assured, Joe will return soon to write about worthless matters like video games and who serves Portland’s best deep-dish pizza. You like me! You really like me!

Trophies are a dime a dozen. You should never go into broadcast journalism just to stockpile awards. The fact is, the best reporting often goes ignored by the pundits and prize patrols. Quality journalism is its own reward, one greater than any shiny statue. Or at least, that’s what the losers always say. Choke on these baby! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Continue reading
